I know, a true movie
buff would never rate a remake over the original. Usually that is true,
but there are a few exceptions and this is one of them. Can you deny Rob
Zombie of his macabre? He is an amazing story teller with a great track
record so far for the horror movie genre. You should all know the story
of Michael Meyers and Halloween, but this movie gives the back story and turns
him into the crazy maniac he was always supposed to be. Basically, little
Mikey grows up in the most dysfunctional family in the world. Well, maybe
not, his mom is a stripper, her boyfriend a piece of shit looser, boarder-line
kiddie rapist, a slutty sister who could care less about him, and a little baby
sister who's dad is most likely a patron at the local establishment mom works.
All in all, sounds like my childhood. Well, Mikey is pretty much
damaged from day one and takes his killing of small animals to the human race
which gets him locked up in an asylum. Low and behold, my brotha from
anotha motha is his caretaker, Mr. Danny Trejo! Spoiler Alert, he
escapes! and goes on a killing spree in Haddonfield. The characters
in this movie are awesome and perfectly casted. Meyers has the crazy
retard strength and is nearly impossible to kill. Dr. Loomis is a slime
ball in the Zombie version, and the sheriff, none other than Brad Dourif, you
know the voice of Chucky. Its hard to top the Jamie Lee Curtis version,
but this movie is a must see.
FYI: I hope
every one knows this bit of trivia, but here it goes. The original
Michael Meyers mask was actually a mask of William Shatner spray painted white.
