Foxcatcher

Stop me if you have heard of this story, two Olympic gold medal winning wrestlers go an live with possibly the most messed up person in the world, and then shit gets real!  You havent?  Well, most of America hadn't either until this haunting movie dropped in the theaters not to long ago.  I saw it over the holiday season and here what the synopsis on the back of the DVD will say:  Mindless ape-like jock represents the US wrestling world and wins something shiny.  Brother of mindless ape-like jock (also ape-like jock) also wins something shiny.  Both lured into the world of eccentric billionaire, creepy, weird, homo-erotic, wish I was liked and an athlete, freak who still lives with his Mother.  Both apes worlds turned upside-down when lunatic creates an alternate universe just before tragedy strikes.  Sound interesting?  It was!  All in all, the acting in this film was outstanding!  Steve Carrell was almost unrecognizable, Tatum played the part of a misunderstood, self conscience athlete to a T, and of course Ruffalo was amazing.  The story is crazy with a lot of weird undertones, and almost un believable.  I think wrestling is an awesome sport and coming from a family who has had some outstanding wrestlers (excluding myself), it was easier to relate to the taxing work that goes into being a champion.  If your going in wanting a high action sports flick, you will be disappointed.  Apparently this story has been trying to break to the masses for quite some time and glad it finally did, it was highly enjoyable.  There is a lot of talk out there about the gay undertones, but I really didnt see it with the wrestlers in this movie.  Moral of this story, money can pretty much buy you anything, but dont go nutzo or your land in the clink with the rest of the criminal freaks.

FYI:  During the pre production of this movie many actors were considered including Heath Ledger, and Ryan Gosling.
